Human Rights Lawyers in China

Free the Lawyers Postcard Campaign

Postcard Campaign jointly organized by the China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group (CHRLCG), the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China (the Alliance), the Justice and Peace Commission of the Hong Kong Catholic Diocese, and the Student Union of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

  • Date: Sunday 2 August 2015
  • Time: 13H - 17H
  • Venue: Jardine’s Crescent, Causeway Bay
  • Guest speakers: Mr. Albert Ho, Chairperson of CHRLCG; Ms. Audrey Eu; Mr. Dennis Kwok; Mr. Kevin Yam and Mr. John Clancey.

The event aims at calling for public’s continual concern for the 15 persons, lawyers and their assistants included, who have remained either in arbitrary detention, secret detention or still in disappearance, most of whom for over 3 weeks now.

The event is also meant to disclose the defective legal environment as well as life situation of the rights lawyers in China, hence drawing further attention to numerous violations of due process as well as legal provisions both at national and international levels in the 710 Crackdown on lawyers and rights defenders.

Signed postcards will be collectively sent to Guo Shengkun (郭声琨), Minister of Public Security in PRC China.

Apart from postcard writing, display boards and leaflets detailing background, timeline of the crackdown, and introduction of the detained lawyers and their assistants will be disseminated.
