Internship Recruitment

CHRLCG Internship Programme

The Organisation and its Work

What do we offer?

The CHRLCG, small NGO with expertise on the application of international human rights mechanism and on the rule of law and human rights issues of concerns in China, offers internship opportunities for students and graduates for both winter/spring (December– March) and summer/ fall (June – October) terms.

The CHRLCG internship programme will provide successful applicants with opportunities to gain insights on the social, legal and political development of China, to liaise with groups and personnel from local as well as international communities, and to develop hands-on experience in applying international human rights mechanism in local context. Apart from specific assignments, Interns will take part in the daily routines in the office on a full time basis, 10H-18H00 on 5-day week.

Who may apply?

The CHRLCG Internship Programme is generally non-paid. To comply with the Minimum Wage Ordinance of Hong Kong, applicants should meet the following criteria: *

  1. Students enrolled in a full-time accredited programme in an education institution with prior internship arrangement with CHRLCG and that the Internship forms a compulsory or elective component of the programme. There is no age limit.

Please check with the internship Programme of your university on this, and apply via the education institution in which one is studying.  OR

  1. Students enrolled in a full time accredited programme provided by one of the eight public universities in Hong Kong (plus the Hong Kong Institute of Education, and the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts), with residency in Hong Kong and under the age of 26.  OR
  2. Full times students with Hong Kong residency or permanent residency now studying overseas and are under the age of 26.

Applicants to the CHRLCG Internship Programme should preferably have completed the first year of their university education on social sciences or law study; with keen interest in issues of human rights concerns; and be prepared to take up an internship of at least 4 weeks or more on a full time basis.

Knowledge/skills on information and social media technologies are definitely an asset.

* Foreign Applicants without residency in Hong Kong

As the CHRLCG internship does not provide any financial support to interns, overseas applicants should secure means of funding and accommodation before they apply.

Foreign students intending to intern with CHRLCG will need a training permit, processing of which will take about 4 weeks after submission of all documents.

Please be prepared to go through the process if your application is accepted by CHRLCG. Details for applying for such permit can be read at: http://www.immd.gov.hk/en/services/hk-visas/training/guidebook.html
